A little while back, before I took off on vacation and forgot about my blog, I took my camera and scouted around the hood one beautiful Spring day. It was right after that huge storm we had (which one you ask!) and the light was terrific and getting out was a must.

I started off in Maple Ridge Florist where there were many treats for the eye and the senses: flowers, home decor and about 100 other things including jewelry and gifts and things that I could easily spend my children’s inheritance on. (What inheritance? I live in Vancouver, they’re lucky to be able to eat!) Anyway, I started out there and here are just a few shots of this lovely store owned by Shelli.

After a wander around Maple Ridge Florist I was hungry so I headed to Gratia bakery just up the road. It’s new, well, open since February, and the products are superb. I loved their old bakery Bread and Buns, but they have outdone themselves with this new location, and it’s always hopping! Congrats on such a great spot and such great products.

This is their Challah or egg bread, which I use for my chocolate and orange bread pudding. It’s perfect!

Try the sourdough breads with your favorite soup.

Next I was off to see my friend Sandra at Westgate Florist. There were so many arrangements in her fridge it was hard to stop taking pictures. I’ll let the flowers do all the talking. Great job Sandra. Beautiful shop, beautiful flowers.
