Life with Gusto!
Categories: Fall, Ireland, Portugal
Where does time go? What happened to summer and why is it so hard to sit down and write a blog post? I have no answers to the above questions, sorry.
All I can say is I have been busy. Busy with life, friends, work, children and writing. Since my last post way back in May I wrote a cookbook, a second one, and took all the pictures and wrote all the recipes. That has to account for something, and offer some reasonable answer as to “where time goes” and why I forgot to post anything!
I enjoyed this summer. I didn’t push myself too hard in either my wedding cake business or this business. I met all my orders and all my clients requests, but I did so with ease, and not with the overbooking I have done every year since I opened my wedding cake business eleven years ago. I really did enjoy lazy and hazy summer days, grabbing hold of both time with friends and my camera whenever I could.
Ireland and Portugal were amazing, and so is Vancouver. I am lucky to call both Canada and Ireland “home” and going back to the emerald isle was a spectacular trip. I leave you with some of my favorite images and stay tuned for book news.
The beautiful west coast of Ireland and County Tipperary (top image).
From Ireland we headed to Portugal and enjoyed wines, ports, piri piri and pastries…and the people. I loved it all!
Fresh lemons from our neighbours’ tree.
Portugese egg tarts, aka, Pastel del Nata.
I ended out the summer in the beautiful farms in our area, and I simply love Willow View Farms in Abbotsford. My house is full of pears and apples and my next post may just have to be about a fruit crisp!
